Door Restoration & Refinishing

An original door is both a working part of the home and an expression of its character. We assess its construction, condition, fit, and finish before recommending repairs. Whether you want to preserve period details, reveal the wood’s grain, or create a refined painted entrance, we plan the work around your priorities. Wood and glazing repairs, hardware, weather seals, and carefully prepared finishes are considered together. Serving Delaware, southeastern Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia.

Wood & Glazing Repairs

Repair damaged rails, stiles, muntins, and surrounding woodwork where practical. We assess loose joints, decayed areas, and glazing, then plan localized repairs or matching replacement parts to retain the door’s original character.

Fit, Hardware & Weather Seals

A restored door should work as well as it looks. We assess hinges, latches, locks, thresholds, and clearances, then discuss fitting adjustments, hardware restoration or replacement, and suitable weatherstripping for the opening.

Paint & Clear Finishes

Choose a finish suited to the wood, existing coatings, exposure, and desired appearance. Options include Fine Paints of Europe satin or high gloss, traditional linseed oil paint, and clear finishes for suitable wood doors. Preparation and samples guide the choice.

Shop & On-Site Restoration

Some doors benefit from shop restoration; others are best treated in place. We discuss removal, temporary protection, repair stages, finish curing, and reinstallation before work begins. Send photos of the full door and damaged areas to start the conversation.
